Baker Mayfield protects stadium seats from rain in new Progressive ad

Baker Mayfield covers seats at FirstEnergy Stadium in Progressive commercial
Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has begun another "season" of Progressive Insurance commercials, with the latest ad released for the start of the 2020 NFL season.

The new ad is the latest episode of "At Home with Baker Mayfield", featuring Baker living in the Browns home stadium. This episode features Mayfield scrambling to protect the "furniture" from getting soaked by the rain. The furniture he is referring to is the FirstEnergy Stadium seats...about 68,000 of them.

Mayfield asks for help with covering the seats, figuring if he starts at the top and the groundskeeper starts at the bottom, they can meet in the middle and it will be done twice as fast. The groundskeeper looks at him completely dumbfounded.

As the number 1 draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Mayfield is smart to take advantage of these opportunities while they are available. He hopes to rebound this year after a tough 2019 season. If he doesn't, these endorsement opportunities may dry up. [Progressive Insurance]

Brent Suter accidentally does reverse somersault on mound vs Cubs

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brent Suter pulled off an impressive reverse somersault on the mound by accident during Saturday night's game against Chicago.

It happened in the third inning of a scoreless game with two outs and no men on base.  Suter was in the middle of his windup on the 1-0 pitch when he seemed to catch his plant foot in the dirt, throwing him off balance.  As he fell backward, Suter was able to position himself to roll backwards and pop right back up on his feet, as if he meant to do it.
Suter's teammates got a good laugh out of it, and the Brewers in the dugout gave him a hand.

Suter shook it off well as he struck out Cubs batter Ian Happ to end the inning. It would be his last batter of the game as Suter finished with 3 scoreless innings, striking out six and giving up only one hit.

Julian Edelman creates Patriots-themed 'Cheers' title sequence

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman tweeted a video inspiring fans with a remake of the title sequence from the classic television series "Cheers".

As TV fans know, "Cheers" was based in Boston and the theme was "Where Everybody Knows Your Name". On Friday, Edelman tweeted "Foxboro: Where Everybody Knows Your Name" with the video attached. The song was unaltered, but the video opens with an overhead view of Gillette Stadium.

In the rest of the video, the faces from the original "Cheers" title sequence are replaced with photoshopped faces of Pats players, along with head coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft. Edelman plays the role of the bartender. The name "Cheers" is replaced with "Foxboro" in the middle of the clip.

Overall, it's pretty funny. Hopefully there are no copyright issues here, but we're sure Edelman had some lawyers take care of those details before doing this.

Patrick Mahomes goes no-look with cornhole throws in new State Farm commercial

Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes stars in a new State Farm commercial that made its debut on Thursday, just in time for the kickoff of the 2020 NFL season.

In the ad, Mahomes brings his trademark no-look throws to the game of cornhole as he shows off his skills with "Jake from State Farm".

Mahomes even displays the ring and says he is willing to let "Jake" wear it for a day in exchange for receiving the special "Patrick Price" on his insurance. Jake has to explain that State Farm offers everyone the "surprisingly great rates".

In reality, with the contract extension Mahomes signed in the offseason with the Chiefs, he will likely never have to worry about how much he is paying for insurance.  The money that State Farm is paying him to be in their commercials will more than cover it.

Pascal Siakam accidentally kicks Daniel Theis in face

Pascal Siakam accidentally kicks Daniel Theis in face, Raptors vs Celtics Game 5
Toronto Raptors power forward Pascal Siakam accidentally kicked Boston Celtics center Daniel Theis in the face during Game 3 of Monday's NBA Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series. It happened in the first period as the Celtics set up on offense holding an early 14-5 lead. Siakam jumped in the air thinking that Celtics point guard Brad Wanamaker was going to shoot, but instead he dished to Theis, who was behind Siakam. Siakam attempted to adjust his position mid-air but lost his balance, and his foot flew up in the air and hit Theis in the side of the face.
The play was stopped as Siakam was called for the foul. Siakam immediately checked on Theis and they shook hands. Theis appeared to be OK after the play.
